This Week in Bobbleheads – Week 8 updates

Even baring a likeness of our fearless leader doesn’t stop problems from happening in the land of bobbleheads.  Seems the W. Virginia Power’s version of Barack Obama in a basketball jersey scheduled to be given out on 5/30 has been held up at customs.  The team is providing vouchers so that fans can pick them up when they finally arrive.

Also, the Tim Lincecum bobblehead that the Connecticut Defenders are distributing on 5/30 will bear him in a SF Giants jersey since he never played for the Eastern League affiliate.  PS.  I will be at this one so come over and say hello.

OBAMA CONTINUES BOBBLECTION DOMINANCE

Barack Obama continued his dominance of Bobblection Week 2008, collecting nearly 60% of the vote on Sunday at Sioux Falls Stadium. Obama bobbleheads were selected over John McCain bobbleheads by a margin of 500 to 405, as Obama won for the fifth consecutive Bobblection. Obama has won all five states, and leads McCain 3,500 to 2,846 in total bobbleheads

Bobblection Week 2008 began on Wednesday night in New York at the home of the Hudson Valley Renegades. Obama won the first Bobblection in a narrow margin, 750 to 719. In an even closer vote on Tuesday, Obama made it two in a row, winning in Massachusetts as Brockton Rox fans gave him a 500 to 456 win. The first decisive victory for Obama came on Friday night in South Carolina when the fans of the Charleston Riverdogs overwhelmingly selected the democratic nominee 500 bobbleheads to just 360 for McCain. Obama clinched a victory in states won with a win in Minnesota on Saturday. The fans of the St. Paul Saints, despite being in the city of the Republican National Convention, selected Obama to the tune of 1250 bobbleheads to 906.

Bobblection Week 2008 will conclude with one final vote on Monday night at the Fort Myers (FL) Miracle game.

Here are the stats through the first 5:

3 in a row for Obama in BobbleElection

If Charleston RiverDogs’ fans are any indication, then Barack Obama will be the next president of the United States.

The RiverDogs, one of the six Minor League Baseball teams of The Goldklang Group,
conducted their Bobblection on Friday, Aug. 8, as the first 1,000 fans “voted” for either Barack Obama or John McCain by accepting a bobblehead likeness of each presidential candidate.  The candidate whose bobble-likeness ran out first was declared the winner.

Earlier in the week, The Group’s Hudson Valley (NY) Renegades and the Brockton (MA) Rox held their elections and Obama walked away with a close 51.8 percent of the vote.

In Charleston, the range was much larger as Obama supporters first reached the 500 mark for their bobbleheads.  McCain fans were at 360.

Round 4 is in St. Paul Saturday.

Obama wins again in Brockton

The polls opened early at Campanelli Stadium with a double header pushing ahead the night’s start time to 5:05 PM.  However voter turnout was strong and an early projection held true.  During the first game of the doubleheader, the public address announcer declared that with 10% of the votes tallied, Obama held a slight edge.  When all of the ballots were counted and verified (there will not be a re-count Florida), Obama had captured a majority vote of 52.3 percent.

Bobblection Week 2008 continues on Friday night in Charleston, South Carolina when the Charleston RiverDogs host the Rome Braves.  Analysts have not yet cast any projection.

Brockton’s Bobblection was the second stop on the Bobblection Week 2008 tour.  On Wednesday in Hudson Valley, New York, the Hudson Valley Renegades saw Obama sneak away with a tight victory.

BobbleElections have begun, Hudson Valley has spoken

The Hudson Valley Renegades were the first team to hold the Goldklang group’s 2nd ever bobbleElection and the results are in…750 for Obama, 713 for McCain.  Fans 18 and over like myself were given tickets upon entry to redeem at “voting booths” by the right field picnic area at Dutchess Stadium.  Obama claimed victory at approximately 7:40 pm after wich the remaining McCains were distributed to those who still had the raffle style tickets left.

Next stop on the campaign trail is August 7th with the Brockton Rox.  Stay tuned.
